Any activity requires the use of appropriate tools intended for increasing productivity. In many areas of industry, transport, communications, trade such tool is represented by computer. Due to the increase in informational intensity of the processes, the use of computers becomes crucial. However, there exist numerous tasks where operator has to enter and process information while continuously moving over a spacious area, under complicated weather conditions etc. In these cases the use of computer in its classical form is impossible.

In order to perform such non-trivial tasks, the data terminals are designed. Data terminal (DT) is a portable device, which allows operator to perform information gathering and pre-processing with further transfer to a desktop computer.

The need to manage goods flow has led to the advent of barcode as a product identifier, which can be read out by a special device – barcode scanner. Equipment of data terminals with barcode scanners makes these devices irreplaceable for automation of cargo handling terminals, warehouses, stores, pharmacies, and other objects characterized by intense goods flow, accurate accounting necessity, promptness of technological operations execution.
